Doctor claims race discrimination

Shola Adeniran, who has been employed by Plymouth Hospitals Trust since 1999, is being laid off from his job as a locum consultant in plastic surgery. Patients treated by Mr Adeniran at Derriford Hospital said they were shocked and angry at his dismissal. The trust denies the surgeon’s claim and said it was following regulations about locum consultants’ employment. Mr Adeniran’s contract is being terminated at the end of the month. Job declined In a statement, a trust spokesperson said: “This is absolutely not an issue about race discrimination and we refute any such allegations in the strongest possible terms. “We work very hard to ensure discrimination on the grounds of factors such as race, age, disability does not take place in our organisation at any level.” More : news.bbc.co.uk |
